PARENTS AND CARES
coaching

Neurodivergent children (i.e. ADHD, Autistic, dyslexic) and neurotypical children have something in common: they want to be listened to, paid attention to, seen and validated.

And often this does not change much when we grow up!

We live in a society where we are all focused running behind a secure job, money, and success. We are all aiming to have a great career that gives us financial security.

But the more society evolves and the harder it is to keep up with expectations. And people are often forced to focus on how to meet those expectation by working day and night.

When you have children, things become complicated. Because you will probably end up sacrificing the time with your child.

And WE KNOW YOU ARE TIRED!!!!

The amount of executive functioning you need to be present with your child/children takes a lot of energies. Especially after a day in the adulting world. Especially if you are a woman!

HOW NEURODIVERGENT COACHING WORKS?

Neurodivergent coaching is addressed to anyone who might be experiencing neurodiverse challenges. It might be for you, for your partner, for your child or for anyone who has a connection with someone who might be considering a diagnosis, have a diagnosis or a dual-diagnosis.

At Open Lines we have the advantage to understand what some of those challenges might be or might feel like as we are neurodivergent ourselves. We have worked on our personal challenges and found our personal solutions by walking on the same path you might be choosing to walk on next: coaching.

Together, we will discover the your strengths as a parent, and challenge those feelings of shame and guilt that might stop you from enjoy parenting your child. At the end of our journey together, you will be showing up confidently and authentically for yourself and your child.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PARENT OR CARERS COACHING?

If you book a coaching session, we will be working in partnership with you to find out what is possible through a creative process.

Together we will:

  • Support you with our expertise to understand what is hiding behind and beyond behaviours.

  • Empower you to come up with tailored strategies to better the connection between you and your child and we will guide you both to thrive.

  • Share with you how their brain might* be working (*might, because although we are neurodivergent, we are not all the same! what works for you, it might not work for me).

  • Support you to work with your child's brain and not against it.

  • Explore the body-brain connection and how the body works and why Co-regulation and Self-regulation are important - through the Polyvagal Theory.

  • Explore sensory behaviours and consequent challenges and we will learn to find the right balance between respecting and pushing sensory tolerance.

  • Share our knowledge on ADHD, Autism, the connection between the nervous system and the brain and the correlation between attachment and trauma.

But we will also:

  • Facilitate your self-esteem, your self-talk as a parent, and we will guide you to challenge old beliefs and change those negative narratives that stop you from enjoying parenting your child.

  • Support you exploring your emotions, such as shame and guilt, by providing a safe and confidential space where you will be able to express yourself free from judgment.

  • Come up with your personal Regulation tool-box (and your child).

  • Encourage you to remember and celebrate your accomplishments, and to allow yourself to make space for kindness and compassion.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that if your child is not open to work with a coach, we might ask you sign up for the parents and carer coaching offer until when your child is ready. This is part of our holistic approach.
